William Edward Liquorish was born on 4 March 1874 in Oxford Terrace, Daventry, Daventry. He and Margaret Lilian Dover were married. He died on 7 May 1913, at age 39, in 51, Lockhurst Street, Clapton., cause TB. William Edward Liquorish was enumerated on the census of 1881. He was enumerated on the census of 1891. Enlists as a Pvt in Royal Scots Greys 2nd Dragoons Private Aged 21 papers give his serial no as 4178. Records show that he was awarded the Queens South Africa medal. Sails with the regiment for S African/Boer War in one of the troopships SS Ranee, British Prince and Antillian. Arriving in Cape Town 6/8 Dec 1899. Jul/Aug 1901 returns to UK after 1year and 272 days service. Rank as L/Cpl. 4th Jan 1902 is discharged from the Army unfit further service. Gives is address as 25 Roswell Street, Mile End the home of Margaret Dover. During his time away he writes to Margaret at this address calling her 'my dear wife'. He was enumerated on the census of 1911 in 27 Alton Street, Poplar, London.
