• Web*: He Was a police man in Birmingham, he joined the Birmingham police on November 20th 1906 and at that time was single. His warrant number was 7548 and personal identification number A176. On 2 August 1919 at the watch committee meeting it was reported that a number of Birmingham City police officers had gone on strike and they were dismissed, including Police Constable A176 Lickorish. About 120 police officers failed to report for duty during the strike. During the course of his police service, Constable Lickorish was awarded a gratuity of one guinea and complimented in force orders by the Watch Committee for his courageous conduct in stopping a runaway horse.
