On 2 August 1919 at the watch committee meeting it was reported that a number of Birmingham City police officers had gone on strike and they were dismissed, including Police Constable A176 Lickorish. About 120 police officers failed to report for duty during the strike. During the course of his police service, Constable Lickorish was awarded a gratuity of one guinea and complimented in force orders by the Watch Committee for his courageous conduct in stopping a runaway horse.

Have another of him at Hull on board a ship on which he was lodged during strike and on the reverse of this Post Card is written to his brother Sid at 29, Lady Margaret Road London. " Notice the ancient mariner. This was took at Hull on the boat we were put up on. Had rather a rough time at Liverpool was in the Lime Street do. Start my annual on Mon 11th. Think I shall go home. Suffering again from impe........ Hope to hear from you soon & that you are not suffering from any disorder" Chas. Post mark date 6th Sept 1911. - Death*: He died in March 1972 at Basford at age 88.
